Focus on the training and up-skilling of employees
The network recognises the requirement for training and up-skilling of current employees to meet future customer and market needs.
Current Activity
Skillnets and InterTradeIreland are currently facilitating a pilot programme which supports the extension of existing Skillnets training networks on an all-island basis. Under this scheme, First Polymer Training is receiving support to extend their training provision to include Northern Ireland companies.
A major new initiative is starting September 2008 and is the result of a collaborative venture between the South Eastern Regional College ( SERC) and the Polymer Processing Research Centre (PPRC) at Queen's University Belfast will enable school leavers and current employees to become Process Technicians within the polymer industry.
